Soma (Carisoprodol)

This is a medication that needs to be taken orally. The patient can choose to take it by mouth or with food. Never decide to increase or decrease the dose, or take the dose for longer, without the recommendation of your doctor. Patients may notice headaches, drowsiness, and dizziness when they first get started on Soma. These are often normal and are not cause for concern.

In rare cases, a patient could get a more serious side effect while taking Soma. If this happens to you, it is a good idea to contact your doctor right away.

Always discuss your current medications and any relevant medical history with your doctor before you start to take Soma. They need to know about any allergies, medical conditions, and other medications that you may take so they can determine how well these can work with Soma.

During a pregnancy, it is best to not take this medication unless it is severely needed. Only you and your doctor can determine if this is the case. Since this medication is able to pass onto the breast milk, it is a good idea to stop or avoid taking it so as to not affect the nursing infant at the time.

Only take the amount of medication that your doctor recommends. Taking too much can cause serious, and sometimes life-threatening, side effects to the patient. Try to set up a time each day to take the Soma (Carisoprodol). This helps you remember when to take it and avoids potential confusion later on.

Do not increase or decrease the amount of Soma that you are taking without permission from your doctor. And never share the medication with someone else.
